Our Mission

Despite making up 4% of the UK population, there is a significant lack of ​Black representation in sports media production roles and on-air talent. ​Black in Sports Broadcasting aims to drive change and create a more ​equitable sports broadcasting industry in the UK through focused ​networking, training for the individual, mentorship, and career ​development programs for Black sports media professionals. We ​acknowledge that the industry needs to change as a group Black People ​in Sports Broadcasting wants to advocate for its members to bolster their ​careers and be empowered to create their platforms (BPSB)

Our History

Founded in 2023, Black People in Sports Broadcasting began as a small ​group of like-minded individuals who wanted to make a positive impact ​in their community. We continue to grow and advocate for our members.

Our Activities

At Black People in Sports Broadcasting Network, we are committed to ​empowering and supporting Black professionals in the UK sports media ​industry. Our journey began with a WhatsApp group, where we have ​been actively sharing opportunities, insights, and resources with our ​members. This platform has allowed us to foster a sense of community ​and collaboration among Black talent in the industry.

Building upon the success of our WhatsApp group, we are excited to ​announce our plans to expand our activities and initiatives. Our primary ​focus is on organising a highly anticipated launch event, which will bring ​together Black professionals, industry leaders, and allies to celebrate ​diversity, network, and discuss the future of Black representation in ​sports broadcasting.

In addition to our launch event, we are dedicated to providing ​comprehensive training support to our members. We recognise the ​importance of continuous professional development and are working on ​curating a range of workshops, seminars, and mentorship programmes. ​These initiatives will be designed to equip Black professionals with the ​skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to excel in their careers and ​navigate the challenges faced in the industry.

Our training support will cover various aspects of sports broadcasting, ​including technical skills, presenting, production, and career ​advancement strategies. We aim to collaborate with experienced ​industry professionals and partner with leading organisations to deliver ​high-quality, relevant, and impactful training experiences for our ​members.

As we continue to grow and evolve, we remain committed to our core ​mission of advancing equity and representation for Black talent in the UK ​sports broadcasting industry. We look forward to sharing more details ​about our upcoming events and training programmes, and we invite you ​to join us on this exciting journey towards a more inclusive and diverse ​future in sports media.
